Beliefs & Cultures

This faculty provides exciting opportunities for exploring links between people, their beliefs and the society or time period they live in.  The traditional subjects of History, Religious Education and Citizenship are explored within this faculty area.

Students follow a ‘blended’ curriculum that will offer the opportunity to learn about the world and the past from the widest perspectives.  All students will be provided with opportunities to study historical, cultural and spiritual aspects of mankind’s past and present as well as encouraging students to apply the things they learn to their own lives.

 Extended Learning

Learning at home is an essential and integral part of the curriculum.  It is often the product of learning in the class and is designed to extend and challenge. Beliefs and Cultures follow a clear policy:

  • In each term there will be two cross-curricular assignments (1 per half term) It is expected that at least 1 hour a week be spent on these assignments in order for them to be completed to a satisfactory level.
  • However, more time than is needed has been set aside so there may be extra brief pieces of work given throughout the term.
