There are six modern science labs in which science is taught in a predominately practical way. Practical work is carried out in small groups of two or three students and much of the emphasis is on learning by investigation. Students in Year 7 will follow the new National Curriculum which means that they will follow an integrated science course which focuses on the three principle aspects of science: physics, chemistry and biology. It also will incorporate technology and the media. In successive years this will also happen in Years 8 and 9, but until then students will study QCA science which focuses on the three principle aspects of science.
